NEW JERSEY STATE

 

Center for Occupational Employment Information (COEI) - COEI is an interagency consortium that coordinates the activities of agencies and organizations involved in employment-related information development and delivery of occupationally-specific education and training. COEI produces 3 career-related biennial publications and provides free career video downloads in various formats. 

 

Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CBVI)- The mission of the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired is to promote and provide services in the areas of education, employment, independence and eye health through informed choice and partnership with persons who are blind or visually impaired, their families and the community.

 

 

Garden State Employment & Training Association (GSETA) -GSETA is a statewide professional organization for the directors and administrators of New Jersey's Service Delivery Areas, Workforce Investment Boards and other locally delivered employment and training initiatives.

 

The John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development, Edward J. Bloustein School of Policy and Public Planning, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is a research and policy organization devoted to transforming the workforce development system at the local, state, and federal levels. The Center provides an independent source of analysis for reform and innovation in policy-making and employs cutting-edge research and evaluation projects to identify best practices in workforce development and employment and workplace policy. The Heldrich Center is dedicated to educating business, policymakers, union leaders, academia, the media, and the public about the workforce development system and its role in our changing economy and workplaces.

 

Labor Market Information - This web site from the New Jersey Department of labor's Office of Labor Planning and Analysis provide the economic facts and labor market information needed by business leaders, educators, public administrations and other decision makers to help them make the right choices

 

National Work Readiness Credential (WRC) - The WRC is a nationally validated, portable, computer-based assessment that measures readiness for entry-level jobs. The WRC is based on a set of employer-defined cross-industry foundational skills required for success in employment.  

 

 New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (LWD) - LWD is dedicated to promoting economic growth, job creation and providing crucial services to the workers and employers of the state.


 

New Jersey’s Hot 50, - This is the third edition of a publication produced by the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s (LWD) Office of Labor Planning and Analysis. This award-winning publication focuses on the 50 occupations that are anticipated to have the greatest demand for qualified workers in the coming years.  Included are wage rates, job descriptions, and projected number of job openings, in addition to the skills, abilities, knowledge, education, and/or training needed for each job.  New Jersey's Hot 50 provides user-friendly information that is designed to help New Jersey's students and job-seekers make good educational, training and career decisions. 


New Jersey Training Opportunities - the New Jersey Eligible Training Provider List and Training Provider Consumer Report Card - This guide to training and education programs is a product of  the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development and the State Employment and Training Commission.  This website lists schools and organizations that provide occupational education and job training opportunities and includes information on the various programs offered by each training provider,  the location and length of training, the costs and any special services that may be offered.

 

NJ NextStop - This website, designed for students, parents and teachers, allows you to match your skills and interests with occupations that will be highly marketable when you are ready to enter the workforce. It lists and describes the various occupations within an expanding industry and provides statistical overviews that identify weekly earnings and projected growth within the industry.

 

NJ PLACE - NJ Pathways Leading Apprentices to a College Education recognizes apprenticeship training programs as a pathway to college.

 

Vocational, Technical, Career and Innovative Programs - Want to know more about what’s really involved in training for a specific job? Looking for help in preparing for a career? Need assistance in locating resources to help you explore different types of industries and occupations? Or perhaps you need to know what opportunities are available in your chosen profession? The New Jersey Department of Education’s Office of Vocational-Technical, Career and Adult Programs website can help.

 

Workforce New Jersey Public Information Network (WNJPIN) - This web site provides information for job seekers and employers. There is information on career exploration as well as other resources for employment and training information.

 

FEDERAL

 

America's Literacy Directory (ALD) - A national database of literacy programs is available via the Worldwide Web and the Institute for Literacy's toll-free number. ALD connects employers, learners, volunteers, social service providers to current information about literacy program in all 50 states and U.S. territories.


CareerOneStop - This site, sponsored by the US Department of Labor has career information and tools to help job seekers, students, businesses and career professionals.

 

CareerVoyages - The U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration CareerVoyages site is filled with labor market information, career resources and industry driven content aimed at 15-25 year olds, their parents, career advisors and career changers.  What makes Career Voyages such a valuable resource is its focus on the country’s high growth industries and in-demand occupations. 

 

 

Eastern Lincs (A Service of National Institute for Literacy) - This is one of five regional sites that make up the National Institute for Literacy's (NIFL's) comprehensive electronic communication and information system. This system provides a link to both national and regional resource materials for adult literacy practitioners and students. In addition, links to state adult education agencies and their representative agencies in the region can also be accessed at this site.

 

National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB) - NAWB represents business-led Workforce Boards that plan and oversee state and local workforce development and job training programs. Our members are volunteers working in their communities to create a more highly skilled workforce. Workforce Boards consist of public and private sector members who are leading the way in workforce development so that America can remain competitive in the global marketplace. The skills of the workforce provide the basis for all economic growth and development. Workforce Boards are local employer-led partnerships charged with developing a workforce development system from disparate education, job training, and employment programs in each local community.

 

National Governors Association (NGA) - This web site provides a collective voice of the nation's governors and one of Washington, D.C.'s, most respected public policy organizations. NGA provides governors and their senior staff members with services that range from representing states on Capitol Hill and before the Administration on key federal issues to developing policy reports on innovative state programs and hosting networking seminars for state government executive branch officials. The NGA Center for Best Practices focuses on state innovations and best practices on issues that range from education and health to technology, welfare reform, and the environment. NGA also provides management and technical assistance to both new and incumbent governors.

 

National Institute for Literacy (NIFL) - This institute is an independent federal organization leading the national effort toward a fully literate nation in the 21st century. NIFL's mission is to ensure that the highest quality of literacy services is available to adults. The Institute serves as a focal point for public and private activities that support the development of high quality regional, state, and national literacy services.

 

US Department of Labor - Information about labor activities such as employment, unemployment, employers, wages, among others, can be accessed on this site.

 

US Department of Labor/Employment and Training Administration - This web site is designed to direct adults, youth, dislocated workers, and workforce development professions to information on employment and training programs.
